UNEQUALLY YOKED

This paper has been sitting unfinished on the shelf for several years.

John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Free from what? Free from spiritual slavery, free from being in a spiritual jail. The spiritual jail is a mind thing, mind control if you will. Spiritual mind control comes from being brainwashed, being deceived, and not understanding plain Bible principles. For the most part the Bible is very plain, very basic in its meaning. It doesn’t take the proverbial Philadelphia lawyer to figure it out. It says what it says. For instance look at 2 Tim 2:26.

2 Timothy 2:26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

This verse casts light on my opening statement. Does this verse apply to you or are you the exception to the rule? Are you Satan-proof? Can you see him coming and out smart him every time?

THE MAZE

This is the follow-up article to “Are We Worshipping a False Christ?”

We will take a close look at the stumblingstone in action, also some of the traps, nets, snares, and pits, all put in place by our Dad, the Father.

Romans 9:33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumbling stone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Remember, “lay”, Strong’s # 5087 means “to place.”   “Zion”, Strong’s  #4622 means fig., “the church.”

Before getting into the maze in detail, I would like to look at another subject on which our eternity hangs by a thread.  Will Christ find faith when He returns?

BAPTIZING

A Christian has to be like Christ.  Christ was baptized, and as Christians, we have to be baptized also.

Mat 3:13  Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

Mat 3:14  But John forbade him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

Mat 3:15  And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

Mat 3:16  And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

Mat 3:17  And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Luk 3:21  Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,

Luk 3:22  And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

“ORDAINED” — WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY?

This paper has been lying on the shelf since July 2000.

Are the churches of God being cursed because we are ignoring and don’t understand God’s clear instructions about the process of being ordained, who an “elder” is, who can anoint, etc.  Let’s look at every example of the word “ordain” or “ordained” in the New Testament.

At first count, there seem to be 13 Greek words that are translated into the English words “ordain” or “ordained.” Let’s understand how we as a congregation are to ordain. In the following verses the Strong’s # and definition appears first then the verse or verses appear below.

ELDERS AND OTHER POSITIONS IN THE BIBLE

Let us understand where we are starting.

Mat 25:5  While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

Mat 25:6  And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

This means me.  It means you.  If you are a Christian in the end time, you have been one of these who have been slumbering or sleeping.  Notice it says ALL.  “All” is Strong’s #3956 πᾶς (pâs) including all the forms of declension; apparently a primary word; all, any, every, the whole:–all (manner of, means), alway(-s), any (one), X daily, + ever, every (one, way), as many as, + no(-thing), X thoroughly, whatsoever, whole, whosoever.

“Slumbered” is # 3573 νυστάζω (nystázō) from a presumed derivative of 3506; to nod, i.e. (by implication) to fall asleep; figuratively, to delay:–slumber.

“Slept” is #2518 καθεύδω (katheúdō) from 2596 and εὕδω (heúdō) (to sleep); to lie down to rest, i.e. (by implication) to fall asleep (literally or figuratively):–(be a-)sleep.   This is speaking spiritually and it includes every end time Christian.  If you want to argue with God about it, that is your choice.

Another very revealing verse is found in Hosea 4:6.

THE LESSON OF THE FIG TREE

Luke 21:29 And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; 30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. 31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand. 32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled. 33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

Matthew 24:32-35 and Mark 13:28-31 say basically the same thing.

“Watch world events! Watch world events! Watch world events! World events are speeding up!” If you were an old time member of the now defunct house built on sand, the Worldwide Church of God (WCG), washed away by the flood of Satan, you have heard these phrases so often it’s sickening.

Oh, by the way, “We need a LARGE Holy Day offering! You members need to sacrifice for the work! Send your tithes to headquarters! WORLD EVENTS ARE SPEEDING UP! Watch world events! Watch world events!”

And we certainly need to keep and eye on world events. The Bible does instruct us to do this:

WHAT’S YOUR OPINION — DOES IT COUNT?

Do you have your own fixed opinion of what you expect the end-time Elijah to be like, look like, speak like, etc.?  Can your fixed opinion be changed or are you one of these people who dictate to God how things should be done in your life?

“God, you can save me, but you have to use MY format.  If you are going to send an end-time Elijah, as you say in Luke 1:17, he must have a Ph.D.  He must use the King’s English properly.  He must be handsome, or at least not ugly.  I can’t accept anyone who is abrasive.  And, surely, the end-time Elijah will perform great miracles to convince people to be saved.  Surely he will be trying to gather a great following so that his organization can be large in number.”

What foolishness to entertain such thoughts!  And, don’t kid yourself; many people feel this way even if you don’t.  They are the foolish virgins of Matthew 25:2:

CHRISTIAN ARMOR

The word “armor in this title will turn many Christians off.  Why do I say that?  Because many Christians do not understand that we are in a violent struggle for our eternal life.  The very thought of partaking in violence turns some people off entirely.  I am not talking of robbing a bank, beating someone up or slashing someone with a knife or committing some other physical form of violence that we see regularly on the news.

Ephesians 6:10-18 tells us what we are up against. Every translation I checked used the word “armor” in this passage. Armor offers protection.  Protections from what?  Verse 16 explains.

Eph 6:16  Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

TAKING THE BIBLE PERSONALLY

Do you take the Bible personally?  If not, why not?  Do you think the Bible should be taken personally?  I do not think there is any salvation for anyone without taking God’s written word personally.

Let us look at this subject AND SEE WHAT THE TRUTH REALLY IS.  Go to Phil. 2:12 and look at a verse screaming out at you and me.

Phi 2:12  Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Is this personal or not?  This verse covers it all.  The result we want is salvation.  The instructions are clear: work it out yourself.  To do this means we have to put our minds to studying God’s Word, rightly dividing the Word of Truth, believing and doing what God’s Word says to us personally.

Look at another personal statement from God to you, to all humans, but primarily the church now in the end time.

WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?

Actually, it is the Gospel of the Kingdom.

Mat 4:23  And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

Mat 9:35  And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

Mat 24:14  And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

The word “gospel” is Strong’s # 2098, “a good message…”  The word Kingdom is #932 meaning “royalty, i.e. (abstr.) rule, or (concr.) a realm (lit or fig):- Kingdom, + reign.” Where is this Kingdom that is mentioned in the gospel message?  Read 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17.
