BIBLICAL PROTOTYPES

If 1 Corinthians 10:11 is true and the Bible is written for us, then Matthew 25:5 is also true, along with Amos 8:11-12.

1 Corinthians 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

Matthew 25:5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

Amos 8:11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:  12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.

If these three scriptures are not true, then we have no salvation because the Bible is a lie and none of it can be believed.

Revelation 20:12 says that we are judged by what is written in the books.  So if we are judged by what’s written in the books, then we have to wake up from our spiritual sleep and get out of this famine of the word and start understanding what is written in the books.

Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Our future in the end time is laid out clearly in the Bible, through what God has written in the books thousands of years ago.  God has written down what may turn out to be hundreds of examples of written prototypes for us.

1 Corinthians 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

“Examples” is Strong’s #5179: “a die (as struck), i.e. (by impl.) a stamp or scar; by anal. a shape, i.e. statue, (fig.) style or resemblance; spec. a sampler (“type“), i.e. a model (for imitation) or instance (for warning).”

Zodhiates’ Complete Word Study New Testament says, “type, as a constituent element of a parable or model of some reality which was yet to appear, a prototype of that which was yet to be developed and evolved.”

“Admonition” is Strong’s #3559: “calling attention to, i.e. (by impl.) mild rebuke or warning.”

“World” is Strong’s #165: “prop. an age; by extens. perpetuity (also past); by impl. the world; spec. (Jewish) a Messianic period (present or future):—age, course, eternal, (for) ever (-more), [n-]ever, (beginning of the , while the) world (began, without end).”

I have not attempted to count them and have just been aware of this truth probably for a few years.  Can this statement of examples (prototypes) be passed over by us and not accepted because it is not according to our preconceived ideas?  Maybe it comes from a source that is not to our liking.  The wise virgins will grab this point of truth and start to understand their future as end time Christians.

This has been so exciting the last several months studying this to see what God has written for us.  Once we understand that the Bible is a personal message written from God and Christ to us as individuals God gives us personal instruction on what to do and how to react to trials, etc. in the end time.  I will just mention a few examples (prototypes) in this paper and go over two or three.  I will be covering more in the coming months.

Rahab, Moses and the Rock, Peter, Paul, John, Stephen, are all examples (prototypes) for us.  How many of these will there be represented in the end time doing God’s work?  Joshua, Zerubabbel are a couple more.  The New Testament church is a prototype for us.  The Holy Spirit coming at Pentecost is another one, plus the actions of the New Testament church, the trip into the Promised Land led by Joshua, Deborah, Lot and his family as a type of the Philadelphian Church.  I will cover this one separately in “Lot’s Family, a Prototype.  On and on this list could go.

Most of these prototypes break down before they are 100%.  For example, Pharaoh is a type of Satan.

Eze 29:3  Speak, and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great dragon that lieth in the midst of his rivers, which hath said, My river is mine own, and I have made it for myself.

  1. He had Israel enslaved and was forced by God to release them at the first recorded Passover.
  1. Today we are all asleep, Matthew 25:5, all the end time virgins.Matthew 25:2, ten represent the whore of the end time church.

Matthew 25:5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

Matthew 25:2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

  1. Are we not enslaved to Satan while spiritually asleep? If not, what are we?
  1. Pharaoh and his army drown in the Red Sea.(This is a P.S. to the above statement and probably two years later.  I’ve since learned or can’t find proof of Pharaoh drowning.  It looks like just his army died.)
  1. Satan and the demons are put away at Atonement (temporarily drown if you will), Leviticus 16:21-22.

Leviticus 16:21 And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness:

Leviticus 16:22 And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.

  1. This prototype breaks down here.Satan comes back but Pharaoh doesn’t.
  1. Satan is put away at the start of the millennium and comes back at the end.

The scapegoat verse brings up another prototype.

  1. Aaron, and his priesthood, are a type of Christ.

Aaron did the scapegoat routine each year, Leviticus 16:21-22.

Leviticus 16:21 And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness:

22 And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.

This practice continued with Aaron’s line of descendants, Leviticus 16:32.

Leviticus 16:32 And the priest, whom he shall anoint, and whom he shall consecrate to minister in the priest’s office in his father’s stead, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen clothes, even the holy garments:

This is to go on forever, Leviticus 16:33-34.

Leviticus 16:33 And he shall make an atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make an atonement for the tabernacle of the congregation, and for the altar, and he shall make an atonement for the priests, and for all the people of the congregation.

34 And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the LORD commanded Moses.

So the question has to be asked, does Christ drag Satan in each year and do this routine on Atonement?

He is the High Priest, Hebrews 5:6, 10.

Hebrews 5:6 As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

Hebrews 5:10 Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.

In one sense, this breaks down because Aaron dies, but in another sense it continues in Aaron’s descendants until the New Testament model where Christ takes over.

Any student of the Bible should be familiar with the story of Cain and Abel.  The wicked murder the righteous.  This has been played out many times down through the centuries.  Satan or his servants murdered many of the people who were prototypes.  Christ and Stephen are good examples.

Most of the apostles probably were murdered.  John was may be the exception, but I think he died in prison.  This is a prototype for the end time Smyrna Church, Revelation 2:10.  All of these are prototypes for us, the end time Christians.

Revelation 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

That is what Christ said in 1 Corinthians 10:11. These things happened and were written for us.  Read the message to the seven churches in revelations 2 and 3.  Are these idle threats made by Christ?  The Philadelphian attitude is the only one promised any sort of protection.  The rest are threatened with punishments.  Then, if you throw in Revelation 7:14, it’s not likely that many come out of the tribulation alive.

Revelation 7:14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Let us go back to Cain for a minute.  Notice the wording in Genesis 4:2.  Able represents the true Christian in that he was a keeper of the sheep.  Sheep represent true Christians, also a well-known fact to any student of the Bible, John 10:27.

Genesis 4:2 And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

Cain was a tiller of the ground.  Tares (weeds) come from the ground, so Cain is a tare prototype.  This is shown by his actions, the murder of this brother Able.

Now notice in Matthew 13:24-25 there are two kinds of seeds here.  We Christians are generally called as adults.  This wheat seed has the potential to develop into eternal life.  The tares apparently do not because they are gathered and burned at Christ’s return, Matthew 13:30.  Their calling is sitting in church with the good seed.

Matthew 13:24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:

25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

Matthew 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

The question has to be asked here, are our ways, attitudes, etc., so set by the time of adulthood that our destiny is mostly sealed?  Why isn’t every human (seed) a potential good seed?  Satan just can’t take a newborn baby and say “I’m going to make a weed out of this human.”  I don’t think God would allow that.

Are genes a factor?  Is there a proclivity at birth to go one way or the other?  Cain was the father of the tares (weeds), the prototype.  Has he passed on a gene that makes certain people more likely to be a weed or tare?  Do tares produce an endless line of potential tares because of the environment in which the kids grow up in?  Just guessing, I think the latter is more likely to be true.

The same question has to be asked of the good seed (wheat).  Do (wheat) parents produce wheat offspring?  Notice what it says in Proverbs 22:6.

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Is the exact opposite of Proverbs 22:6 true also, if we do it in reverse?  The bottom line is that each human has an opportunity to choose which way to go.  A man who robs a bank, steals a car, tells a lie, or commits murder has a choice as to whether or not to do these things.

So it is with tares.  They are exposed to the good seed, they know they should live by the Bible, but the choice is theirs to make.  Christ said of Judas, a well known weed, that it would have been better if he had never been born.

Matthew 26:24 The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.

Think about it.  Why did Judas not repent?  He was exposed to the Son of God personally for 3 1/2 years or so.  He had seen many miracles, heard Christ teaching, walked hand in hand with Christ so to speak and yet nothing penetrated his mind.  He would not repent.  Will this be the case with many end time Judas’?  They will be exposed to many good seed, yet will not repent.  Christ and the Father knew that Judas was hopeless when he was “called.” No one will not have salvation forced on them.  We have to choose to be saved.

Now, for another example of prototypes.  This paper is just an introductory of sorts.  I want to go through in detail a lot of the examples that are written for us.  Our future in the end time is laid out plainly in the prototypes.

Look at the Abraham example.  He was willing to sacrifice his son in obedience to God.  You can find that story in Genesis 22.  Will we be willing to sacrifice a family member, the love, the fellowship that only a wife, husband, child, father or mother can bring to a home?

Notice in Matthew 10:36-37.  This will be a major trial for many in God’s church.  Will we let a family member steal our crown?  Will we compromise God’s word just to keep the peace in the family or hold the family together?  Will we be like our prototype grandfather Abraham and be willing to make the ultimate sacrifice of a family member to obey God, not actually to kill or murder family members, but  rather to be willing to give them up regardless of the consequence?

Matthew 10:36 And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.

37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

Christ and the Father won’t accept our foremost love going to a family member instead of the Lord.  Notice what it says in Luke 14:26.

Luke 14:26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

“Hate” is Strong’s #3404 meaning to detest, (espec. to persecute) by extens. to love less…

I hope you can start to understand what this means.  1 Corinthians 10:11 holds the key to our future, and our understanding of it.  Review the definition on page one.  John 15:13-16, these prototypes are one way that Christ will make these things known to us.

1 Corinthians 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

The next paper will be on Lot and his family being a type of the Philadelphian church.
