END-TIME EVENTS — CAN YOU HANDLE THEM?

It is through much tribulation that we will enter the kingdom of God.

Acts 14:22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

This word, “tribulation,” is Strong’s #2347, “pressure, (lit. or fig) afflicted, (tion), anguish, burden, persecution, tribulation, trouble.”

So this is what we, as end-time Christians, have to look forward to.  If you have God’s Holy Spirit, the Bible is written as a personal message for you.

1 Corinthians 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. 12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

Notice the warning, or admonition, in verse 12.

You are blessed indeed if God’s word is the supreme authority in your life.  If not, then no amount of papers, tapes, sermons, debates, or conversations will cause you to repent and submit to this great God, who is trying to give us eternity on His terms.  God’s word must be the actual driving force that regulates the way you live—at home, in public, on the job, with neighbors, etc.  You will not be blessed if you take a plain Bible statement and reason it away and water it down instead of submitting to this mighty God, who inhabits eternity, who counts all nations as less than nothing.

Isaiah 40:17 All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.

God makes a statement in Jeremiah 23:20, that in the latter days, we will understand the thoughts of His heart.

Jeremiah 23:20 The anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly.

I’ve covered this verse in many other papers.  So in the intent of keeping the length of this paper as short as possible, I’ll leave the proving up to you.  As the NIV translates this verse, we “will understand it clearly.”  This is what God is saying, that in the last days, we will understand clearly what He is doing.

There is just one way that this can be accomplished.

Luke 1:17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

Malachi 3:1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.

Elijah is the only one who can make ready a people prepared for the Lord.  If you are one of the people who have swallowed Satan’s line that there is no end-time Elijah, you are standing on the brink ready to fall over into the darkness of eternal death forever.

How do you reason away the fact that Christ is talking about two Elijah’s in Matthew 17:10-13?

Matthew 17:10 And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come? 11 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things. 12 But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them. 13 Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.

Verse 11, Elijah truly shall come first and restore all things.

Verse 12, But I say unto you, he is come already.

How do you explain verse 13?  Would you also toss out Acts 3:21?

Acts 3:21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

To say that Matthew 17:10-13 is not talking about two Elijahs is a gross rejection of scripture and God’s authority in our lives.

Can Malachi 4:5 be tossed aside with hardly a thought?

Malachi 4:5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD.

If there is no end-time Elijah, and if this verse only applies to John the Baptist, please explain to me, in writing, what was so “dreadful” about Christ’s first coming?  Doesn’t the book of Revelation make the day of the Lord clear?  It certainly describes plenty of dreadful things coming on mankind.

If you want to reason away the fact that there is an end-time Elijah, then go for it.  No amount of arguing will change your mind.  But if you miss Elijah, you will miss eternity.

Malachi 3:1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.

Luke 1:17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

What is the message?  Is it Matthew 25:5-6? Is it the message that we are in a famine of the word, Amos 8:11?

Matthew 25:5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. 6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

Amos 8:11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD.

God tells us in Isaiah 28:9-13 how He talks to us, the end-time Christians.

Isaiah 28:9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. 10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: 11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. 12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. 13 But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

Notice in verses 11-12 that He talks to the people who will not listen in another language.  That’s you, that’s me.  If you or I refuse to listen to God’s written word, the last sentence of verse 13 is our future.  We will spiritually fall backward, be broken, snared and taken.  It is very clear that we will miss salvation if we refuse to listen to God’s written word.  Revelation 20:12 adds additional authority to what God says in Isaiah 28.

Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened and another book was opened, which is the book of life, and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the reasons why Joshua, Zerubbabel and Moses are all involved in end-time events as types of the end-time Elijah.  Realizing this may give us a lot of insight into what we can expect as an end-time Christian.

Zechariah Chapters 3 and 4 show that Elijah wears three hats in the end-time scenario, and even a fourth one in the way that he is compared to Moses.  Notice Zechariah 3:1.

Zechariah 3:1 And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.

I’ve covered Zechariah Chapters 3 and 4 in other papers, but for the sake of this paper, some will have to be repeated here.  Joshua is the High Priest in verse 1.

The priests get the word at God’s mouth.

Malachi 2:7 For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth, for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.

Isn’t the priest supposed to be the spiritual leader?  Well, our end-time Christian leader will be Elijah.

Luke 1:17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

Remember that the Bible is written primarily to us, the end-time Christians, and secondarily to the people of the world as they come in contact with us.

1 Corinthians 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

Notice that Joshua the High Priest is plucked from the fire.  This is the lake of fire, where we are all headed if we don’t repent.  God personally delivers the cry at midnight to this Joshua (Elijah) character and he repents.  Remember Matthew 25:5.

Matthew 25:5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

They all slumbered and slept—not all except one, but ALL.

Zechariah 3:3 tells us that he was still in his sins and unforgiven when he is awakened.

Zechariah 3:3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.

Verses 8-10 make this an end-time setting.

Zechariah 3:8 Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH. 9 For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day. 10 In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, shall ye call every man his neighbour under the vine and under the fig tree.

Verse 8, “bring forth the Branch.”  Verse 9, “remove the iniquity of the land in one day.”  Both of these verses are certainly millennial as well as verse 10.  Verse ten is not true today, January 1999.

Notice the term “brand” in Zechariah 3:2.

Zechariah 3:2 And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?

“Brand” is Strong’s #181 meaning, “to rake together, a poker (for turning or gathering embers)…”  Won’t Elijah the Prophet be stirring the embers in the end-time Christians?

Notice in Matthew 25:8 that the foolish virgins were letting their lamps go out, their flame, the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 25:8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.

Isn’t it clear that this Joshua character has to be Elijah?  He is the only one who can make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

Luke 1:17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

Elijah is the one whom Christ will use to wake us up through the cry at midnight.  Can it be denied that Zechariah 3 is an end-time setting?  This Elijah will be our spiritual guide.  He is the spiritual messenger in Malachi 3:1, preceding the second coming of Christ clearly described in verse 2.

Malachi 3:1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts. 2 But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap.

This end-time Elijah is compared to Moses.

Acts 3:21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began. 22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. 23 And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.

Is verse 21 an end-time setting?  Christ is to remain in heaven until the restitution of all things.  In verse 22, God claims that He will raise up a prophet like Moses.

Now, what does Matthew 17:10-13 say?  Notice in verse 11 that Elijah is to restore all things.

As previously stated, there are two Elijahs in these four verses.

Now for a bit of digression about Moses and Zerubbabel as types of the end-time Elijah, then we’ll get back to Joshua.

In Acts 3:21-23, Peter was quoting from Deuteronomy 18:15-19.

Deuteronomy 18:15 The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken; 16 According to all that thou desiredst of the LORD thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.

17 And the LORD said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken. 18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. Deuteronomy 18:19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.

Notice that this end-time prophet whom God will raise up (verse 15) is from the midst of the brethren and he is also like unto Moses—remember, Moses was a big time sinner and was not allowed to enter the Promised Land.

Moses also had many good attributes.  What does Deuteronomy 34:10 say?

Deuteronomy 34:10 And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face,

What a relationship Moses had with God!  If you are a student of the Bible, you know the many instances that are recorded of God personally dealing with Moses.

Continuing in Deuteronomy 18:18, God states again that this end-time prophet will be from among the brethren and will be like unto Moses.  This will include the good with the bad.  Also in verse 18 is another indication that this prophet like Moses is Elijah.  God claims that He will put His words in this man’s mouth.  Who can make ready a people prepared for the Lord?

Luke 1:17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

If God’s word stands and is true, we can believe the information that God has preserved in the Bible to help us understand the Moses aspect and how it relates to this end-time Elijah.  Because he is to be like unto Moses (Deuteronomy 18:18 and Acts 3:22) this position of Moses must be one of the hats that Elijah will wear.

Moses took Israel out of Egypt to the border of the Promised Land.  So will this end-time prophet who is like unto Moses.  He will take us out of the end-time famine of the word that has enveloped us all.  Pharaoh (Satan) has held us captive.

Amos 8:11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: 12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.

As a result of this famine, we have been starved into sleep.

Matthew 25:5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

We were all called and came out of Egypt and God’s Spirit is still with us even though we are all asleep.

Haggai 2:5 According to the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, so my spirit remaineth among you: fear ye not.

Our salvation depends on what we do with God’s Spirit after we wake up.

Matthew 25:6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. 7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

This term “like unto you, Moses,” is taken from Deuteronomy 18:18 and Acts 3:22 and covers a lot of ground, so much, in fact, that I’ll just name a few of his works.  They were numerous and impressive as he accomplished the work that God had given him.

Moses would argue with God.

Exodus 4:10 And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. 11 And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD? 12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say. 13 And he said, O my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send.

14 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.

God thought very highly of Moses.

Numbers 12:7 My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. 8 With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?

Moses gave in to family pressure and didn’t circumcise his son, provoking God to set out to kill Moses.

Exodus 4:24 And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him. 25 Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me. 26 So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, because of the circumcision.

If you or I are not direct descendants of Moses, we owe our very existence to him.  God was going to kill all of Israel and make a nation of Moses’ descendants.

Exodus 32:9 And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people: 10 Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.

11 And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand? 12 Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people.

Numbers 16:20 And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, 21 Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment. 22 And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation?

One thing that impresses me is that Moses had a severe speech impediment.  Maybe he stuttered very badly or had some other problem.

Exodus 4:10 And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.

Moses’ impairment made no difference to Christ, he looks on the heart.  Christ simply made the necessary accommodations and moved ahead.

The works and character of Moses could go on for many pages.  We will certainly need to be aware of the aspect of Moses that applies to the end-time Elijah.  Deuteronomy 18:15-18 means what it says and if we dare to reason it away, we will miss our connection with eternal life.

What about the original Elijah?  Will his history give us any insight into the end-time Elijah?  He is the only one who can make ready a people prepared for the Lord (Luke 1:17) and the Bible is written for us—the end-time Christians (1 Corinthians 10:11).

Let’s look at some of the history of the original Elijah.  Will you be one of the people who refuse to believe that there is an end-time Elijah unless he is doing a barrage of miracles?  Calling fire down from heaven, etc.?  There is a time and place for his miracles in the end time, but know for sure that God won’t do miracles to convince you or me to be saved.  Luke 16:23-31 makes this very plain.

Luke 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. 26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house: 28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. 30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.

31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

The word “persuaded” in verse 31 is Strong’s #3982: “to convince (by argument, true or false)…”  Hebrews 11:6 is the route we have to take.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Elijah will be doing miracles in the end time.  Luke 1:17 makes this clear.  The end-time Elijah comes in the spirit and power of Elijah.

Luke 1:17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

The meaning of Strong’s #1411, “power,” includes miracles: “force (lit. or fig.); spec. miraculous power (usually by impl. a miracle itself)…”  This cannot apply to John the Baptist, because he did no miracle:

John 10:41 And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of this man were true.

So Luke 1:17 must be a reference to the end-time Elijah.  The phase of Elijah’s work that involves miracles is dealt with in my article on the End-Time Work.  One clue for us, to help us recognize this end-time Elijah when we think we may have encountered him, is he taking on Satan’s ministry, as did the original Elijah?

1 Kings 18:19 Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel’s table.

Elijah threw out the challenge.  He had all of Satan’s ministry gathered at Mt. Carmel, all 850 of them, 450 prophets of Baal and 400 prophets of the groves.  Notice in verse 21 that Elijah challenges the people.

1 Kings 18:21 And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.

The people represent the end-time Church of God.  Is the Bible not written for us?  The people (Church) had two opinions in their midst, just as the end-time Philadelphians do.

Revelation 3:9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

Aren’t there two opinions shown in this verse?  What would you call it: Jews (Christians) and the synagogue of Satan?  God accepts one group and rejects the others.  Who gets rejected?  The tares, the three out of four good seed that go bad, and the five foolish virgins, who include the good seed that go bad—to be a virgin, one must be a good seed at some point.

There is a famine of the word in the end time (Amos 8:11-12), and we are all asleep (Matthew 25:5).

Matthew 25:5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

If these verses are not true, the Bible is a lie and we have no hope of salvation.

The very nature of Elijah’s message, delivered to the sleeping virgins, will automatically take on the ministers of Satan.  Do you think that the sleeping (spiritually) virgins are being taught the eternal life giving truth they need?  No way!  They wouldn’t be asleep if they were.

This is a major clue for us.  We must ask ourselves if this man’s (Elijah’s) message is stirring up the synagogue of Satan mentioned in Revelation 3:9.

Notice in 1 Kings 18:22 that Elijah was the only prophet of God.

1 Kings 18:22 Then said Elijah unto the people, I, even I only, remain a prophet of the LORD; but Baal’s prophets are four hundred and fifty men.

So it will be with the end-time Elijah.  He is the only one who can make ready a people prepared for the Lord and he is the messenger in Malachi 3:1.

As the story continues in 1 Kings 18:24-29, God nullifies the power of Satan’s forces.  This is the same scenario shown to us in Joshua (Elijah) leading us into the Promised Land.  The forces of Satan shall fall before the power of this mighty Jesus Christ.

In 1 Kings 19 we read that Satan wasn’t finished.  Jezebel wanted to kill Elijah, so Elijah got out of there in a hurry.  In 1 Kings 19:10, Elijah is very despondent.

1 Kings 19:10 And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.

In verse 18, God encourages Elijah.

1 Kings 19:18 Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.

Does this verse have a meaning for the end-time Christians?  Maybe, maybe not.  I find it very interesting that the Worldwide Church of God, which was truly the Sardis Church of God (see my article on Sardis), has splintered down to almost nothing.  Is this the “few” mentioned in Revelation 3:4?  The “few” concept is addressed on the next page.  Remember, Sardis had a name of being alive, but was dead.  Does this not describe the WCG?  We certainly had a name of being alive—remember all the great works we did.  Is it not a dead church now, January 1999, 13 years after the death of Herbert W. Armstrong?  Wasn’t the church already dead prior to his death, especially after the 1950’s?  History shows that he was a false prophet.

Are you one of the people who adamantly refuse to accept the idea of Church eras?  If you do, there’s no place of safety for you.  The Philadelphians are promised a place of protection.  They have works, an open door, and it takes people and time to get this work done.  Doesn’t this constitute an era?

Revelation 3:7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth; 8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee. 10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

Is there also a Laodicean era?  If not, then explain the fiery trial they go through.  This also takes a certain amount of time and a number of individuals.  If this is not an era, what is it?

Don’t reason your way into the lake of fire.  The bottom line is, if there is no Philadelphian Church era, there is no place of safety.  Was Philadelphian Church to be taken to a place of safety for a period of over 2000 years?  No.  The Bible is written for us, the end-time Christians.

1 Corinthians 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

It’s an interesting concept to me that there were 7000 people in 1 Kings 19:18 who hadn’t submitted to Satan.

1Ki 19:18  Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.

In Revelation 3:4, Christ says that there are a few in Sardis who will obtain salvation.

Revelation 3:4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.

“Few” is Strong’s #3641 meaning, “puny (in extent, degree, number, duration or value)…”  Webster’s II New Collegiate Dictionary says “puny” means, “inferior in strength, size or importance.”

Is the size today, January 1999, of the splinter groups and living room churches of the WCG inferior in size or importance compared to that of its zenith?  These numbers will get even smaller as the foolish virgins are forced out after the cry at midnight wakes us up.

All these concepts will mean nothing to you or me if we are unwilling to accept 1 Corinthians 10:11 and Revelation 20:12.  God is not playing games with us humans and we had better believe what the Bible says!

Another hat that the end-time prophet wears is that of Zerubbabel, governor of the Jews.  Notice that Zerubbabel lays the foundation of the end-time family of God.

Zechariah 4:9 The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you.

Zechariah 4:13-14 puts an end-time setting on this chapter, mentioning the two witnesses, as does Zechariah 3:8-10.  Remember 1 Corinthians 10:11—the Bible is written for us.

Zechariah 4:13 And he answered me and said, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord. 14 Then said he, These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.

1 Corinthians 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

Now refer back to Zechariah 4:9.  Zerubbabel has laid the foundation of the house.

Zechariah 4:9 The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you.

“House” is Strong’s #1004 meaning, “a house, in the widest variety of applications, especially family.”  If the Bible is written for the end-time Christians, then this family that God is speaking of in Zechariah is the 144,000 Israelites plus the multitude that no man can number described in Revelation 7:1-4, 9 and 14.  This 144,000 of Revelation 7 can’t include Peter, Paul, Isaiah, Noah, Rahab, Ruth, Deborah, Ester, and Priscilla because the tribulation must be held up so that this end-time 144,000 can be sealed.  The righteous dead belong to the 144,000 of Revelation 14.

Revelation 7:1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.

2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, 3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.

4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel……

9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands….

14…And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Notice that this Zerubbabel character certainly isn’t a type of Christ, as we were taught in the late Worldwide Church of God (WCG), the church built on sand.  Christ certainly was not descended of, or born in, Babylon as the name “Zerubbabel” is defined by Strong’s #2216.

“Zerubbabel, governor of the Jews” gives us a hint of a hat that the end-time Elijah will wear.  Notice Revelation 3:9, the message to the end-time Philadelphians.

Revelation 3:9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

As I’ve pointed out in many papers, if you are a true end-time Philadelphian, you are in association with the synagogue of Satan.  Notice in verse 9 that people are “playing church,” claiming to be Jews but they are not.

  • Elijah is the only one who can make ready a people prepared for the Lord (Luke 1:17).
  • Zerubbabel laid the end-time foundation of God’s family and will furnish it.

Zechariah 4:9 The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you.

  • God says in Haggai 1:1 that Zerubbabel was the governor of the Jews.

Haggai 1:1 In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying,

  • Christ refers to the end-time Philadelphians as “Jews.”

Do these facts not tell us that the end-time Elijah will be the end-time spiritual governor of the end-time Jews?

He most certainly will not be ruling over us like the hierarchists do.  His spiritual rule will be that he is the only source of spiritual truth in the end time.

Luke 1:17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

Remember that God says he will put His words in this prophet’s mouth and he will be like unto Moses.  If we can’t accept this fact, God is going to have a major problem with us.  God makes it very plain, in Ezekiel 34:5 and 8, that there are NO end-time shepherds, and even the shepherds that He may eventually claim in the last part of verse 8 aren’t getting the job done.  If you want to argue that the entire chapter is not end-time, go for it.

Ezekiel 34:5 And they were scattered, because there is no shepherd: and they became meat to all the beasts of the field, when they were scattered……8 As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely because my flock became a prey, and my flock became meat to every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, neither did my shepherds search for my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flock;

The fact is that this position as Zerubbabel is just another hat worn by the end-time Elijah.  He will be our spiritual governor in the sense that he is the only source of saving truth in the end-time famine of the word and he will have to be the one to wake us up with the cry at midnight.  Remember, he is the only one who can “make ready a people prepared for the Lord” (Luke 1:17).

Now I want to get back to Joshua the High Priest and his function in the Bible.  This will give us tremendous insight into what the end-time Joshua (Elijah) will be doing.

Zechariah 3:1 And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. 2 And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalemrebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire? 3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.

Zechariah 3:7 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by. 8 Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH.

The end-time Elijah will also wear the hat of Joshua.  In Zechariah 3:1-2, he is plucked from the lake of fire while he is still in his sins (verse 3).  In verse 7, he makes a covenant with God.  Verse 8 makes him the spiritual leader and must be referring to the two witnesses as “men wondered at.”  (This could also refer to other men “wondered at” in the end time.)  Then God will bring forth His servant the Branch, and Elijah is the only one who can prepare us for the Lord (Luke 1:17).  He is the messenger of Malachi 3:1.

Malachi 3:1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.

Notice in Zechariah 3:9 that Joshua has a stone laid before him.

Zechariah 3:9 For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.

“Stone” is Strong’s #68 and means, “through the means to build…”  Back in verse 7, he is told that if he will do his part, he can judge God’s house.

“House” is Strong’s #1004 and means, “house, in the widest variety of applications, especially family…”

In Zechariah 3:1 as well as Haggai 1:1, Joshua is named as High Priest.

Zechariah 3:1 And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.

Where in the Bible does God promise to send an end-time High Priest?  The only promise is to send an end-time Elijah.

Malachi 4:5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD.

Luke 1:17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

Remember, the Bible is written for the end-time Christians.

1 Corinthians 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

Notice Haggai 1:14.

Haggai 1:14 And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the LORD of hosts, their God,

God stirs up the spirits of Zerubbabel, governor of the Jews, and Joshua the High Priest.  Remember in Revelation 3:9 that Jews are mentioned in relation to the true end-time Philadelphians.

Who can make ready a people prepared for the Lord other than the end-time Elijah (Luke 1:17)?

Notice also in Haggai 1:14 that the “remnant” of the people had the spirit stirred up in them.  “Remnant” is Strong’s #7611.  Zodhiates’ Complete Word Study Old Testament says of this word, “It is a remainder, a remnant, a residue, survivors (especially after the slaughter)…”

Now, I ask you, was there a slaughter in the Worldwide Church of God after the Tkach’s took over?

What happens when God stirs up the spirit?  “Stirred” is Strong’s #5782 meaning, “through the idea of opening the eyes. To wake…”

God wakes us up, from Elijah right on down to the last sleeping virgin.  Remember Matthew 25:5.

Matthew 25:5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

We are ALL asleep.  When we wake up, we go to work in the house of the Lord.  Remember, “house” means “especially family.”  This end-time family is described in Revelation 7:1-4, 9 and 14, as we saw earlier.

So what did Joshua do in the Old Testament?  He was given the job of leading the Children of Israel into the Promised Land after the death of Moses.  Who will lead us into the Promised Land—the Kingdom?  It will be the end-time Joshua, Elijah the Prophet.

How can we deny the message here?  If you have God’s Holy Spirit, this will be starting to make sense to you.

Let’s go back to the book of Joshua and see what happens in this process.  In reality, what is going on at this stage?  The “Moses” phase of Elijah’s job is over.

What do I mean by that?  We are all asleep (Matthew 25:5).  We are asleep because there is a famine of the word.

Satan has us all in his grasp, just as Pharaoh had all the Israelites in his grasp.  Will Pharaoh (Satan) be forced to release us at Passover 1999?  Maybe, maybe not.  We will know in hindsight.  Since the number nine has to do with judgment, and the number three shows divine will (there are three nines in 1999) is 1999 the year when judgment will begin at the House of God?

1 Peter 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

There are three nines in 1999, and three shows divine will or perfection.  Is this significant?  We may find out during and after Passover, and it may take a period of months to be evident.

Moses has to give us the law again—not necessarily the Ten Commandments, but the general knowledge of God that applies to the end-time salvation scenarios.  Remember, we are ALL asleep and in a famine, spiritually starved. Just as the original Moses led Israel out of Egypt and revealed God to them, so will the end-time Moses (Elijah).

Is it not true that we need to have God revealed to us, since we are all asleep and in a famine of the word?  Can we be doing anything other than “playing” church to some degree, some more, some less?  Let’s be honest with ourselves.  If we are starving for the true word of God and asleep on top of that, we can only be “playing” church, regardless of how good our intentions are.

Will you rebel when the true word of God comes to you through this man because it’s not like you expected it to be?  Our attitudes should be, “Yes, Dad (God the Father).  If you like it, then I love it!”

Remember in Deuteronomy 18:18 that God says He will put His words in this prophet’s mouth.  In Acts 3:22 we are told that we had better listen to this prophet.

Deuteronomy 18:18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

Acts 3:22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. 23 And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.

In a nutshell, that is the “Moses” aspect of the job of God’s end-time Elijah.  It’s almost like God is doing the whole Exodus of Israel again.  As we understand Joshua the High Priest’s (Elijah’s) job in this it will continue that same thought process as he leads us into the Promised Land (salvation).

Notice God’s promise to Joshua the High Priest.

Joshua 1:5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

Will anyone be able to stand, in spiritual matters, before the end-time Joshua (Elijah)?  The instruction continues in verses 6-7.

Joshua 1:6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. 7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.

Will this end-time Joshua (Elijah) have a single-minded fearlessness when it comes to God’s word?  Verse 8 shows him the way to success and verse 9 is a command from God to this end-time Joshua (Elijah).

Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. 9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Notice a warning to us in Joshua 1:18 and Deuteronomy 18:19.

Joshua 1:18 Whosoever he be that doth rebel against thy commandment, and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage.

Deuteronomy 18:19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.

This is what Acts 3:23 is referring to.

Acts 3:23 And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.

“Destroyed” is Strong’s #1842, “to extirpate—destroy.”  Webster’s says “extirpate” means, “(1) to pull out by the roots, (2) to destroy, exterminate…”

Remember 1 Corinthians 10:11.

1 Corinthians 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

How will we recognize this Joshua (Elijah) character?  Notice Joshua 3:7.

Joshua 3:7 And the LORD said unto Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee.

“Magnify” is Strong’s #1431 meaning, “a prime root, prop. to twist, i.e. to be (caus. make), large (in various senses as in body, mind, estate or honor)…”

God will magnify this man before us so that we can see his spiritual side and know what God is doing.  By his fruit we will know him.

Luke 6:43 For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.

Can we recognize him by reasoning away the scriptures?  By being dishonest with God’s word?  By staying with our splinter groups and their “no shepherd” leaders?

Eze 34:4  The diseased have ye not strengthened, neither have ye healed that which was sick, neither have ye bound up that which was broken, neither have ye brought again that which was driven away, neither have ye sought that which was lost; but with force and with cruelty have ye ruled them.

5 And they were scattered, because there is no shepherd: and they became meat to all the beasts of the field, when they were scattered…..

8 As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely because my flock became a prey, and my flock became meat to every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, neither did my shepherds search for my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flock;

If we won’t be totally honest with the scriptures and follow the lead of the Holy Spirit as God reveals that man to us, we will not be in God’s Kingdom.  Revelation 20:12 and Luke 1:17 mean exactly what they say and no one can be in the Kingdom who refuses Philippians 2:5.

Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Luke 1:17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.

Does Joshua 3:10 have meaning for us?  You bet it does!  This gives us a list of the forces of Satan that stood in the way of God’s people going into the Promised Land (the Kingdom).

Joshua 3:10 And Joshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the living God is among you, and that he will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hivites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Jebusites.

These forces of Satan (splinter groups of the WCG) have their kings, the “no shepherds” of Ezekiel 34:5 and 8.  They (these kings of the splinter groups of the WCG) rule the flock with force and cruelty (Ezekiel 34:4).  They take the sheep’s tithes and offerings, which is illegal in God’s sight.  The parables of the pounds and talents teach us that we are individually responsible for using God’s tithe money.  If one of the humble sheep dares to defy the king in any way, he or she is beheaded (disfellowshipped).

No doubt, it will come to light which splinter groups represent the list of names in Joshua 3:10.

Know for sure that Satan’s forces will use every method of deception to trip us up in his spiritual end-time war against the saints.  Read in Joshua 9 that Joshua was tricked and deceived by one of the forces of Satan.  We, as end-time Christians, as well as Elijah, will have to be on guard for these satanic deceptions.

Revelation 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

Know for sure that there will be persecutions coming our way from the forces of Satan in his attempt to block our way into the Kingdom.

Make no mistake—Satan has his ministers.

2 Corinthians 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

These ministers and their followers are the ones who claim to be Jews (Christians) and are not.

Revelation 3:9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

2 Corinthians 6:14-18 is our only defense against these forces of Satan.  Notice especially verse 18.  Only if we follow these instructions can we be God’s sons and daughters.

2 Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Don’t pass this off lightly.  Our way to the Promised Land is blocked.  We are all asleep (Matthew 25:5) and we are in a famine of the word (Amos 8:11-12) and a mighty battle looms on the horizon.  Is the history of Joshua’s fight to enter the Promised Land written in vain?  No.  If it is, the whole idea of salvation is a lie.  1 Corinthians 10:11 is true.

1 Corinthians 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

Continuing in Joshua 4:14, as Joshua (Elijah) wakes us up with the cry at midnight, the wise virgins will recognize him.

Joshua 4:14 On that day the LORD magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they feared Moses, all the days of his life.

Chapter 6 of Joshua tells us of the demise of Jericho.  Which force of Satan, in the disguise of a WCG splinter group, represents Jericho?  Time will tell.  Why do I say “a WCG splinter group?”  Because if we will clearly understand the prophecies correctly, this end-time Elijah character will go to the Sardis fold first, and then he will go to the other folds of God’s sheep.

We will clearly see, maybe only in hindsight as the battle lines are drawn, which splinter group is the end-time Jericho and who their king is.

The true sheep who hear the voice of the Shepherd need not fear (John 10:3-5, 27).  Nothing will stand before this mighty God as He begins the end-time harvest (Romans 9:27-29 and Revelation 7:1-4, 9 and 14).

John 10:3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. 4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. 5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers…..

John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

Romans 9:27 Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved: 28 For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth. 29 And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha.

Revelation 7:1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. 2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,

3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. 4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel……

9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands…..

14…And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

How many Rahabs will there be, in the splinter groups, who will recognize the truth and be spared as Joshua (Elijah) mounts the attack under Christ’s leadership?  Let’s not kid ourselves—this is for real!  Does the Scripture say in vain that the Bible is written for us?

1 Corinthians 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

Look at Joshua 8:24.  With 1 Corinthians 10:11 in mind, are there spiritual applications?

Joshua 8:24 And it came to pass, when Israel had made an end of slaying all the inhabitants of Ai in the field, in the wilderness wherein they chased them, and when they were all fallen on the edge of the sword, until they were consumed, that all the Israelites returned unto Ai, and smote it with the edge of the sword.

Another force of Satan is encountered by the Children of Israel on the way into the Promised Land—the king of Ai and his city.  Which splinter group of the WCG and leader does this represent?  Notice what the Israelites did.  They slew all the inhabitants of the city with the sword.  So it will be today (the end time) as Joshua (Elijah) leads us into the Promised Land.  We will slay all the inhabitants of this splinter group with the sword of the Spirit (except the Rahabs) and their city (splinter group corporate organization) will also be smitten with the sword of the Spirit just as the city of Ai was with the literal sword.

It is impossible for God to lie.

Hebrews 6:18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us.

Revelation 1:16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.

Revelation 2:12 And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges…….Revelation 2:16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

Let’s not kid ourselves—the Bible is written for us (1 Corinthians 10:11), and means what it says.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

Now notice Joshua 9:1-2, after the two splinter groups of the WCG (represented by Jericho and Ai) have tumbled by the sword of the Spirit of this mighty God who inhabits eternity.

Joshua 9:1 And it came to pass, when all the kings which were on this side Jordan, in the hills, and in the valleys, and in all the coasts of the great sea over against Lebanon, the Hittite, and the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, heard thereof; 2 That they gathered themselves together, to fight with Joshua and with Israel, with one accord.

Joshua 11:1-5 gives us come more information on these confederations that fight the Children of Israel on the way into the Promised Land (for us, the Kingdom).  Not only will the major splinter groups of the WCG fall before Joshua (Elijah), the minor splinter groups and living room churches will also fall.

Joshua 11:1 And it came to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor had heard those things, that he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph, 2 And to the kings that were on the north of the mountains, and of the plains south of Chinneroth, and in the valley, and in the borders of Dor on the west, 3 And to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and to the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the mountains, and to the Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpeh.

4 And they went out, they and all their hosts with them, much people, even as the sand that is upon the sea shore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many. 5 And when all these kings were met together, they came and pitched together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.

In Joshua 11:23, the sword of the Spirit of this mighty God, who inhabits eternity, will see to the fall of these oppositions as He does the end-time work.

Joshua 11:23 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.

Satan musters his forces.  Some kind of coalition is formed by these splinter groups to fight this end-time Joshua (Elijah) as the Children of Israel continue their march toward the Promised Land.  They will unify in some shape or form, enough to fight their common enemy Joshua (Elijah).  The method and tactics they use will become clear to the true Philadelphians as this develops.

One thought needs to be interjected here.  I ask the question, I’m not giving the answer.  Is this the time of the fulfillment of Zechariah 11:8?  Remember 1 Corinthians 10:11.

Zechariah 11:8 Three shepherds also I cut off in one month; and my soul lothed them, and their soul also abhorred me……11 And it was broken in that day: and so the poor of the flock that waited upon me knew that it was the word of the LORD.

This end-time Joshua (Elijah) will have to be extremely careful not to make the mistake of the original Joshua, who made a league with the forces of Satan, in the form of Gibeonites (Joshua 9).

He is warned in Ezra 4:1-2 of what will happen.

Ezra 4:1 Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity builded the temple unto the LORD God of Israel; 2 Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assur, which brought us up hither.

Notice verse 1. the children of the captivity built the temple.  This is us (remember 1 Corinthians 10:11).  We have been held captive by the famine of the word (Amos 8:11-12) and by the soundness of spiritual sleep (Matthew 25:5).

When God wakes us up, we (the Daniel 12:3 people) start to build the end-time temple (1 Corinthians 3:16).  The true Philadelphians go through the open doors of Revelation 3:7-8.

Daniel 12:3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

1 Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

Revelation 3:7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth; 8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

Notice in Ezra 4:2 that they come to this end-time Zerubbabel (Elijah) and want to help him build.  Review Zechariah 4:9.  Zerubbabel (Elijah) is the ONLY ONE who can make ready a people prepared for the Lord (Luke 1:17).

Continuing with Zerubbabel, he has laid the foundation of God’s end-time family (house) in Zechariah 4:9.  These people in Ezra 4:2 who want to help the end-time Zerubbabel (Elijah) build are the ones mentioned in Revelation 3:9, who are playing church, claiming to be Jews (Christians) but are not.  Notice that these people are IN the Philadelphian Church, which we all want to be in.

God encourages the end-time Joshua (Elijah) and his helpers in Joshua 10:8, 24-25.

Joshua 10:8 And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee……

24 And it came to pass, when they brought out those kings unto Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war which went with him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. And they came near, and put their feet upon the necks of them. 25 And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage: for thus shall the LORD do to all your enemies against whom ye fight.

No man can spiritually stand before this end-time prophet and his helpers.  In verse 26, Joshua (Elijah) finishes them off by physically killing them.  So it will be in the end time.  These end-time kings of the splinter groups of the WCG will be spiritually finished off by the sword of God’s Spirit as it is wielded by Elijah.

As we follow this end-time Joshua (Elijah) into the Promised Land, he will leave none of God’s instructions undone.

Joshua 11:15 As the LORD commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moses.

I ask again, can you handle the end-time events or will you be a foolish virgin and reason them away?  Will you go into the lake of fire as one of the foolish virgins who make up a full 50% of the virgins awakened by the cry at midnight?

Matthew 25:2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
